From the Hop Research Center in Hüll, Germany, Ariana was developed from a cross breeding of Herkules and an unspecified wild male hop. High alpha acid content for bittering, but works very well for aroma additons. Notes of sweet fruit, citrus, and berries.
Hop Statistics:
Alpha Acids: 10.0 – 13.0%
Beta Acids: 4.5 – 6.0%
Alpha-Beta Ratio: 1.66 – 2.88
Cohumulone: (% of alpha acids): 40 – 42%
Total Oils in mls per 100 grams dried: 1.6 – 2.4
Fruit-forward aroma alternatives; berry, melon and wine-like notes will differ. Use the alpha-acid percentage printed on the actual package for bittering calculations. Late additions and dry hopping should be matched by flavor, not alpha acids alone.
